Responsibilities

• Provide oversight over the Department of Public Utilities' general accounting team
• Serve as a liaison with Finance and IT for the customer billing system
• Record financial transactions related to DPU's sales, accounts receivable, debt transactions, grants, and other miscellaneous transactions
• Supervise staff to ensure transactions are processed timely and accurately and oversee reconciliations of key accounts
• Manage and oversee team activities to ensure compliance with City policies and procedures and identify opportunities for standardization of financial reporting, project accounting, and accounts payable
• Be involved in the preparation of DPU's interim and annual financial statements
• Identify and implement training for staff as needed
• Assist others as needed on various assignments
• Manage the department's monthly and year-end closing processes and reconciliations related to accounts payable, debt, and revenues
• Provide leadership, training, and supervision of staff
• Manage division relationships
• Initiate disciplinary action when appropriate
• Implement and maintain proper financial controls
• Ensure financial accounts are reviewed and monitored in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Assist with planning, reviewing, preparing, and monitoring routine and special monthly and annual operations and maintenance expense
• Analyze, develop, and recommend standard operating procedures for DPU's general accounting
• Assist internal and external auditors
