About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Dynamic Positioning Officer (DPO) to join an offshore operations team for a short-term contract assignment. The DPO will be responsible for operating and monitoring dynamic positioning systems to ensure safe and precise vessel positioning during offshore operations, in compliance with all applicable maritime safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the vessel’s Dynamic Positioning (DP) system to maintain accurate positioning and heading control
- Conduct pre-operation checks and system diagnostics on DP equipment
- Maintain a safe navigational watch in accordance with STCW standards
- Respond promptly to DP system alerts, malfunctions, or environmental changes
- Coordinate with the bridge team, engineering, and offshore crew during DP operations
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, ISM/ISPS codes, and flag state requirements
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation related to DP operations and navigational watch
- Participate in emergency drills and safety training as required
- Support survival craft and rescue boat operations when needed
Requirements
- U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident
- Valid government-issued ID
- RigPass / SafeGulf certification
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- OGUK or USCG Medical certificate
- BOSIET + CAEBS certification
- NORTH – Noble Offshore Readiness Training (Hands-On)
- DPO Full Certificate (Dynamic Positioning Operator)
- ECDIS Course Certificate (Electronic Chart Display and Information System)
- GMDSS certification
- Valid MMC (Merchant Mariner Credential), including:
- STCW Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch (A-II/1)
- STCW Advanced Fire Fighting (A-VI/3)
- STCW Basic Safety Training (A-VI/1)
- STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, other than Fast Rescue Boats (A-VI/2-1)
- STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (A-VI/6-2)
- Liberian Endorsement: Navigational Watch Officer + Proficient in Survival Craft
