DOT Water Truck Driver

About the Role

The selected candidate will work in a team environment with co-workers and managers, adhering to company policies and safety procedures. Responsibilities include performing daily pre/post trip inspections, obeying laws and dispatch instructions, monitoring vehicle gauges, loading and unloading equipment or materials, and maintaining product quality. The role may also involve minor equipment servicing, general labor duties with a paving crew, and assisting in training less-experienced employees.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials; may require unloading by hand or shovel depending on materials hauled.
  • Assure product quality to the best of the driver’s ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
  • Maintain truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers, maintaining constant eye contact and communication when backing.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Follow directions from managers regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
  • Assist in training less-experienced employees on proper equipment operations, servicing, and repair.
  • Perform general labor duties with a paving crew when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
  • Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration form.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA/MSHA.
  • Have a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards.
  • Be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment.
  • Ability to operate both standard and automatic trucks.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is preferred.
