DOT Trailer Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions on equipment and perform repairs
• Operate the following mobile equipment: loaders, forklifts, trucks, material handlers and other various equipment to troubleshoot
• Ensure all jobs are completed in a proficient and safe manner when working within the plant and/or garage shop areas while wearing Personal Protective Equipment
• Able to inspect vehicle(s) for any safety or operational defects using DOT, maintenance, and safety checklists and ensuring emergency equipment is in proper working order
• Comply with DOT and state inspection requirements
• Responsible to complete DOT manifests and paperwork
• Trailer maintenance including electrical, tire changing and brakes

Requirements

• Must be able to perform minor repairs and routine tasks efficiently, correctly, and safely
• Keep clean and safe work area and comply with all plant specific rules, procedures, and duties
• Minimum 2 years previous DOT experience
• No on-road preventable accidents during the past (3) years as shown on the Motor Vehicle Road (MVR); accidents are reviewed by CMC Logistics
• Electrical troubleshooting and installation skills
• Brake certification
• Valid drivers license with clean MVR

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
