Dormitory Director - MSB

About the role

The Dormitory Director oversees the Residential Advisors (RAs) and ensures the effective implementation of MSB's programs. They also assist with the oversight of Independent Study Directors (ISDs).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate daily updates, needs, and concerns between RAs (both evening and overnight shifts) and Administration.
  • Provide on-going, daily supervision and staff training to RAs by assisting with onboarding and orientation, completing daily rounds, working one-on-one with staff as needed, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, etc.
  • Aid the Residential Life Administrator with program implementation for students and staff.
  • Maintain and monitor Daily Supervisor’s Reports, student data collection, maintenance, and IT requests etc.
  • Perform daily inspections of the dorms, serve as a mentor and mediator for unresolved student conflicts, and ensure students adhere to their ISD contract.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • Able to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, parents, staff and fellow workers.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • OR Five years experience supervising staff and students in a residential school for the blind AND A valid Missouri Class E Driver’s License with an S endorsement (Note: This license is required to drive our vans; applicant does not drive school buses).
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certificates.

Pay

$50,832 (plus $2.00/hour Shift Differential for working an evening or night shift schedule)
