Donor Relations Assistant
About the Role
The Donor Relations Assistant is an integral member of the Stewardship and Development team, often serving as the first point of contact between donors or potential donors and the Archdiocese of Chicago. This role is crucial in maintaining professional and courteous interactions that reflect the values and mission of the Archdiocese.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service as the primary contact for donor phone calls, resolving inquiries related to donor accounts promptly and courteously.
- Draft business correspondence and communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with donors and parishes.
- Assist with various projects, format and send letters individually and through mail mergers.
- Manage and respond to emails from parishes, donors, and the ticketing system.
- Document donor interactions, track actions taken, and follow-up needed in the database.
- Collaborate with staff to create and maintain system-wide data integration.
- Collect and prepare data for records and reports as needed.
- Review, track, and correct information for online giving related to donor accounts.
- Update and maintain a confidential database of individuals, corporations, foundations, vendors, and media contacts.
- Promptly enter credit card gifts, pledge reversals, adjustments, and billing cycle changes into the database.
- Organize and file campaign documents regularly.
- Manage undeliverable mail by logging and distributing it.
- Update cumulative check logs or Records of Subscription for each campaign weekly.
- Attend required meetings and participate as needed.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the mission, goals, and priorities of the Stewardship and Development office.
Requirements
- Skills Required:
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish.
- Professional communication skills via telephone and in writing.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated customer service capabilities.
- Process-oriented with strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), data entry, and database management.
- Experience Preferred:
- Professional experience in a fundraising environment.
- Education Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Pay
This position has an hourly range of $18.84 - $22.61. An employee’s pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
