Donor & Family Coordinator - Organ (Bilingual Required)

About the role

As a Donor & Family Coordinator-Organ (DFCO), you will respond to hospitals to gather case information and provide support to donor families throughout the donation process. DFCOs are responsible for discussing organ donation options with families as they make end-of-life decisions. In some cases, the DFCO accompanies the family to the operating room.

This role is scheduled to work 12, 24-hour shifts per month. After training, the position is self-scheduled with some weekend requirements. While the position requires 24-hour availability, the bulk of the work occurs between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and sensitively deliver information about organ donation to donor families during end-of-life decisions, including working with families in grief and crisis.
• Educate families about the organ donation process and the impact of their loved one’s gifts.
• Communicate with internal staff, external hospital staff, and donor families, often exchanging detailed clinical information.
• Work in various hospital environments, including intensive care units and operating rooms.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish to assist Spanish-speaking donor families (required).
• Familiarity with medical terminology or clinical processes (beneficial).
• Resilience to work long hours in highly emotional environments.
• Resourcefulness and critical thinking to find solutions in dynamic situations.

Pay

$72,158–$81,178 annually
