Donor Center Phlebotomist

About the Role

As part of our team, you’ll use your healthcare and/or customer service skills to support every step of the blood collection process at our fixed site locations. You’ll collaborate with your team to create a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, follow safety procedures, and collect lifesaving blood donations for hospitals. This role allows you to grow your healthcare skills and career within the nation’s top humanitarian organization.

Responsibilities

• Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment to encourage repeat donations.
• Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards for transfusion.

Schedule

• Variable hours with 4 x 10-hour shifts (some weekends required).
• Schedule is provided 2–3 weeks in advance and may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet donor and community needs.

Pay

Starting rate of $19.50/hour, with potential increases based on experience.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or a combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a public setting.
• Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
• Prior leadership experience.
