About the role
This position is responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical power lines and cables, including poles, towers, and underground conduits.
- Perform emergency repairs and restoration of power during outages.
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other specialized line equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Inspect and test electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Perform duties in various weather conditions and be available for on-call and emergency work as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
- Train and mentor apprentice linemen as needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and practices related to distribution and transmission systems.
- Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment and specialized tools used in line work.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb poles, and work in various weather conditions.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
