About the role

This position is responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power lines and cables, including poles, towers, and underground conduits.
  • Perform emergency repairs and restoration of power during outages.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other specialized line equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Inspect and test electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and safely.
  • Perform duties in various weather conditions and be available for on-call and emergency work as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Train and mentor apprentice linemen as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and practices related to distribution and transmission systems.
  • Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment and specialized tools used in line work.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb poles, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
