About the Role

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services Safe-house Supervisor will support the programs of ACTS that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in crisis. The position is responsible for all aspects of operations of the Domestic Violence and sexual assault safe-houses, and for providing management and administrative support for actions within the shelter to all Resident Assistants, Volunteers, Interns, and other staff. The Safe-house Supervisor will provide a trauma–informed environment to all occupants, ensure that the needs of the shelter occupants are being met and that all clients receive all appropriate services. This person will be in charge of training new staff, managing and scheduling, providing emergency coverage as needed, and be available to answer common questions on a day-to-day basis. This position requires you to be on call 24/7, in case of emergencies, and to serve on-call for housing placement for the Lethality Assessment Program (LAP), when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Essential Functions

  • Assure 24-hour coverage of both safe-houses by trained staff.
  • Coordinate and manage Resident Assistants schedule and cover shifts, when needed.
  • Ensure appropriate boundaries are adhered to between staff/interns and residents.
  • Implementation of all policies and protocols established by ACTS and other accrediting agencies; such as MSDS, OSHA, Health and Fire Inspections, assist Director of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault with creating additional policies and protocols when needed, and train all staff and volunteers/interns.
  • Train new employees on job responsibilities and expectations, program and agency policies, procedures and protocols, provide on-the-job training, and ensure that staff completes the required 40 hours of DV training per fiscal year.
  • Provide regular supervision to assigned staff, including monitoring sick time use, time off requests, assignment of responsibilities within level, clarification of job expectations, monitoring job performance, staff compliance with agency requirements, and completion of competency evaluations.
  • Immediately reports supervision issues to the Director.
  • Maintains documentation of supervision sessions with staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention, support, information, referrals/resources, to residents and to callers when answering the hotline.
  • Monitor program occupancy and report daily vacancy, occupancy, number of beds available, and daily progress notes to the DV department.
  • Assist when needed with the Rapid Rehousing Program to transition clients into permanent housing.
  • Coordinate maintenance of the facility, supplies, food, etc.
  • Interface with other agencies in the community and maintain community networks that support the agency's mission and vision.
  • Maintain client records and track statistical data relevant to domestic violence and sexual assault victims and enter data into the VADATA and any other data base entry system that is assigned.
  • Submits all monthly stat reports and grant reports when needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and/or house meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention training (provided by ACTS).
  • 40 hours of continuing education per fiscal year.
  • Empathy, calm, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations, experience with de-escalation and conflict resolution.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record insurable by our insurance carrier and able to drive a 15' box truck / van.
  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements: including but not limited to-bending, squatting, and pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 pounds, twisting, kneeling and standing/sitting for long periods of time.
  • Experience with safe-houses/shelter assisting domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bilingual capability (English and Spanish, French or Arabic).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related human services field.
  • Experience dealing with clients in crisis, as well as experience as a trainer and presenter.
  • Three years of experience in a management/supervisory role.
  • Experience working in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault, particularly in shelters/safe-houses.

Pay and Schedule

  • Salary: $63,647.45 per year ($1000 additional per year for bilingual capability in English and Spanish, French or Arabic and $1000 additional per year for additional degree of value to ACTS.)
