Responsibilities
- Performs all duties required to lay out, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable on aircraft.
- Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary.
- Cuts wire to length, strips insulation from wire ends, and insulates connections with plastic sleeves.
- Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as: transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners such as bolts, screws, or solder.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Obtains and maintains electrical qualifications as well as other maintenance certifications directed by supervisor to include but not limited to; low observables, structures, hydraulic couplings, window replacement, engine/tailpipe removal/installation.
- Maintain aircraft for maintenance, removal and installation of attaching hardware, component removal and installations, assistance with software uploads, and various system operational checkouts.
- Interprets and uses various test equipment and works from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Works various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 – 1500, 2nd shift 1430 – 2300, 3rd shift 2230 – 0700 and overtime when required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 4 years electrical experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment.
- Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years.
- Completion of A&P certificate program or Associates degree in an applicable field.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Willingness to work various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 – 1500, 2nd shift 1430 – 2300, 3rd shift 2230 – 0700 and overtime when required.
- Ability to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
- Willingness to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
