About the Role

CACI is looking for talented individuals who are just beginning their career in the legal field. The Document Management Technician (DMT) position is an entry-level role that allows you to utilize your organizational skills while working closely with attorneys and other litigation support professionals in a fast-paced setting. You will collect, store, and retrieve important documents to provide critical case support to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Knoxville, TN, assisting with its mission of investigating and prosecuting cases to enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of the Administrative Officer or Project Task Leader.
  • Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office. Controls access to the office and ensures only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry.
  • Notifies staff members of visitors or incoming telephone calls. Takes and delivers messages when staff members are unavailable.
  • Handles citizen complaints over the telephone and in person. Directs callers or visitors to the proper agency and provides citizen complaint forms.
  • Responds to inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs. Advises callers or visitors to contact appropriate Federal, State, or local agencies for matters outside the USAO’s purview and furnishes contact information when available.
  • Receives legal documents (e.g., Civil Rights complaints) and notifies the appropriate person of receipt.
  • Organizes and maintains binders of necessary forms or other documents in a prescribed manner.
  • Maintains an up-to-date telephone listing and files of addresses for departments and agencies, as well as necessary telephone directories for the office.
  • Reserves conference rooms upon request.
  • Receives, reviews, and distributes incoming mail, including interoffice mail and service of process. Annotates mail and immediately notifies appropriate staff members of hand-delivered mail, FedEx, UPS deliveries, and faxes.
  • Receives requests for office supplies from co-located personnel and submits interoffice orders for replenishment as needed.
  • Provides courier services from the USAO to courthouses and state and federal agencies to file and/or deliver legal documents as required.
  • Collects quarterly mileage logs and submits requests for reimbursement to the Budget Officer.
  • Assists the Automated Litigation Support staff with legal document redactions.
  • Assists the administrative division with other division-related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform detailed work consistently, accurately, and under pressure.
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions.
  • Must understand tasks, objectives, and the context of the task within the litigation support effort as a whole.
  • Must take the initiative to ask questions when necessary to complete tasks correctly (e.g., where instructions are not explicit or appear contrary to the task objective).
  • Typing/keyboarding skills and good communication skills.
  • Must be a knowledgeable user of the Government’s office and network environment, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications systems.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Litigation support experience valued.
  • DOJ MBI clearance must be obtainable (U.S. Citizenship required).

Pay

This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor.

Minimum required hourly wage: $17.75. Final salary may be influenced by factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
