About the role

The Doctor of Midwifery Program Coordinator is a core faculty member of the TJU Midwifery program and plays a central role in supporting Thomas Jefferson University’s Doctor of Midwifery degree program.

Responsibilities

• Admissions: Regularly attend monthly admissions meetings, field admissions inquiries, and make admissions recommendations.
• Funding: Direct and support funding efforts including seeking and developing new sources of funding for students.
• Teaching and Curriculum Development/Evaluation: Be present for and contribute to MIDW.501 Orientation, prepare Canvas courses, suggest curriculum revisions, and support curriculum committee submissions.
• Student Advising and Mentoring: Act as advisor to all doctoral students, confer with Academic Success Center and Library support services, and provide feedback and insights.
• Faculty Recruitment and Support: Interview potential doctoral faculty, provide support to DM adjunct faculty, and assist with IRB projects.
• Planning and Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate MidwiferyThinks!, secure keynote speakers, and coordinate obtaining continuing education credits.
• Administrative and Operational: Participate in and coordinate Doctoral Program Advising Committee, DM Program Marketing, and Refresher Program.
• Field Questions: Assist with creating plans of study, serve as advisor for students enrolled in the refresher program, manage Credit-by-Exam courses, and submit completion letters to the registrar.

Qualifications

• Education: Earned doctorate in midwifery or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Certified Midwife (CM) or Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM).
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in a Midwifery education program at the rank of Instructor or higher at an accredited institution, minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice experience as a midwife, and demonstrated leadership experience within a midwifery program or academic health professions setting.
• Other Qualifications: Evidence of scholarship, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and consistent effectiveness in interpersonal, leadership, and management skills, participation in professional organizations, and experience with doctoral-level curriculum development, evaluation, or accreditation processes.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with ACME and ACNM standards and university academic policies, experience advising or mentoring graduate or doctoral-level students.
