About the role

The Dockmaster will be mainly responsible for the operations directly associated with boating customers. This person must exhibit flexibility to handle all segments of the Marina Office, assist the Marina Manager as needed, and act as the Marina Manager in their absence. The Dockmaster is responsible for compiling and reporting all facets of the Marina's Wet Slip and General Accounting performance. As one of the first points of contact for the public, strong public relations skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support for all sectors of the Marina.
  • Support, set up, and maintain all wet slip account files.
  • Perform administrative duties (e.g., correspondence, messages, memos, telephone contacts) for the Marina Manager.
  • Work with all Managers and/or corporate officers to organize, formulate, and coordinate bookkeeping procedures for Marina profit centers.
  • Maintain a rental inventory for wet slips and dinghy storage, including archiving and updating boat records for customer file maintenance.
  • Order office supplies through proper purchasing procedures.
  • Coordinate Slip Holder License Agreement Renewals and posting requirements of all licenses and certificates.
  • Process new Slip Holder/Transient Agreements and Deposits.
  • Enter all receipts for payments and deferments into accounting software.
  • Assist in special projects.
  • Complete daily reports and Marina operations, including checklists, leasing, sales, billing, payment transactions, and preparing daily deposits.
  • Compile revenues and expense information and prepare preliminary month-end reports.
  • Balance and request petty cash repayments monthly.
  • Make memos to process security deposits of tenants leaving the Marina.
  • Maintain account records and files.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Marina Management.

Requirements

  • Experience in general office procedures and working with the public.
  • Marina industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Initiative to help organize and maintain a productive working atmosphere within the Marina Office.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, including frequent movements within the unit.
  • Bending, lifting, carrying, reaching/extending arms and hands above shoulder height frequently in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire workday.
  • Climbing steps regularly.
  • Working in wet, slippery, hot, and damp outdoor conditions.
  • Frequently immersing hands in water.
  • Withstanding temperature extremes and inclement weather in outdoor environments.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Clear speech recognition and clarity to understand and communicate with customers and co-workers in English.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Equipment Used

All dock equipment and materials, including gas pumps, boats, ropes, and anchors.

Pay

16.00 USD Hourly
