About the role
Parker Poe is seeking a Docketing Paralegal to sit in our Charlotte or Raleigh Office. The Docketing Paralegal will maintain a regular schedule of 7.5 hours per day, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours, including overtime, may be required based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Review pleadings and court filings for response deadlines.
- Verify response dates and deadlines and enter information into the docketing database.
- Track, maintain and update case information stored in the docketing database.
- Perform administrative duties in support of docketing.
- Continually review, research and interpret the rules of civil procedure in state and federal courts.
- Provide proactive support to attorneys and staff to ensure all docketing deadlines, court appearances, etc. are integrated into Outlook calendars.
- Maintain and proactively improve processes to ensure accurate entry of docketed deadlines.
- Adhere to all firm policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Office of General Counsel Attorneys and/or leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience supporting litigation teams and calendaring docket deadlines and an associate degree or the combined equivalent of experience and education.
- Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Substantial analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and a comprehensive understanding of civil litigation.
- Familiarity with federal and state court procedures and electronic filing requirements.
- Strong technical knowledge of and experience with docketing software preferred, including CompuLaw.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Outlook, and experienced with document management systems.
- Must effectively prioritize workload and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a team player - willing to help other team members during peak time.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Typing proficiency of 75 words per minute.
