About the Role
Weekend shift dedicated to maintaining uninterrupted dock operations. Saturday work: 10 AM – 2 PM (four hour core block). Monday-Friday: flexible schedule that allows the employee to balance the required weekly hours around the Saturday shift. Sunday: off (standard day off).
Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and stage incoming materials; prepare outbound shipments with accurate quantity, weight, and conformance documentation (bills of lading, shipping records).
- Maintain supply chain continuity – monitor inventory levels, flag low stock items, and coordinate alternate sourcing to prevent breaks.
- Utilize ERP/warehouse software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to record transactions and provide real time inventory visibility.
- Respond to customer needs, including personal delivery of products when required.
- Apply 6S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) principles to keep the dock and office organized, clean, and hazard free, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
- Recent dock and warehousing responsibilities, including loading-unloading operations, inventory staging, and coordination of inbound/outbound shipments within a high-throughput distribution environment.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain a security clearance (e.g., U.S. Department of Defense / government-issued clearance) by meeting all background-investigation requirements and maintaining eligibility throughout employment.
- High attention to detail: Proven ability to accurately read, verify, and record long alphanumeric strings and part numbers without error.
- Strong numerical accuracy: Experience managing, sorting, and scanning large quantities of sequential and non-sequential product serial numbers.
- Quality focus: Consistent track record of matching physical inventory precisely against digital records, picking lists, or shipping manifests.
- Basic tech literacy: Ability to comfortably use handheld RF scanners, barcode readers, and digital inventory tracking systems.
- Manual dexterity: Ability to safely manipulate, inspect, and pack extremely small, delicate components with precision.
- Adaptable handling: Demonstrated capacity to quickly transition between handling fragile inventory and rugged, bulky merchandise without damaging products.
Qualifications
- Possess or be able to obtain a security clearance and adhere to DoD handling and ITAR/EAR compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current security clearance.
- Recent experience operating an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products) or similar, including its inventory-tracking module for managing stock levels and related logistics.
- Recent hands-on experience operating a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) – commonly known as a forklift – performing material handling, load placement, and inventory-movement tasks in a warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with the Owego campus—its layout, facilities, and operational procedures—is strongly preferred.
Skills
- Ability to operate hand trucks, powered industrial trucks (forklifts), and computers to maintain data.
- Ability to lay out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.
Benefits

(Washington state applicants only): Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
