Duties and responsibilities
- Reports to: The Dock Worker in Port Jefferson is directly responsible and accountable to the Dock Supervisor.
- Supervises: None
- Description of Duties:
- Helps to ensure smooth and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles
- Maintains the cleanliness of the loading dock
- Performs other duties assigned
- Meets and greets incoming customers
- Gives directions and advice to ferry passengers
- Positions cars to ensure efficient and safe boarding of the ferry
- Performs routine maintenance tasks on the dock
- Performs security sweeps of the ferry terminal, loading dock and parking lots
- Inspects vehicles as deemed necessary
- Maintains knowledge of security procedures and performs same as required
- Handles ship lines, freight and ramp operations
- Runs errands as requested
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- In Bridgeport, CT, also responsible for:
- Driving the shuttle bus to escort passengers from off-site parking lot to the ferry loading dock
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- HS degree or equivalent
- Valid TWIC card or proof of application for TWIC card
- Willingness to apply, obtain and maintain United States Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, day and evening shifts
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to handle and throw lines
- Must have the ability to stand and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
Hourly Salary
$21.99 an hour
