About the Role

The Dock Lead is responsible for leading and supporting dock team members during a specified shift to ensure freight is properly loaded and unloaded for on-time, error-free deliveries. This position requires up to 5% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Display a positive attitude and provide courteous, friendly service to internal team members and external clients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of Lanter Delivery Systems Non-Negotiables.
  • Support and coach dock team members, ensuring adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Reinforce positive behaviors and redirect negative performance, documenting interactions.
  • Train and develop freight handlers, providing tools and resources for success.
  • Ensure safe and efficient loading/unloading of freight, addressing unsafe practices.
  • Print and label freight, input data accurately into computer systems, and match manifest numbers to parcel numbers.
  • Assist in loading/unloading freight and operate forklifts to sort and match freight.
  • Safeguard cross-dock operations by monitoring safety and security protocols.
  • Manage conflict resolution and document incidents for supervisor review.
  • Protect company assets and confidential information per company policies.

Requirements

  • Proven warehouse, cross-dock, or related experience.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and apply critical thinking.
  • Analytical and technical capacity.

Work Environment

This role operates in a warehouse environment with unforgiving surfaces, varying temperatures, and exposure to noise and odors. Prolonged periods of standing or sitting are required, along with regular use of office equipment.

Physical Demands

The role requires standing and/or sitting for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, typically Monday through Saturday, with 40–45 hours per week. Evenings, overnights, and weekends may be required based on location and business needs.
