DM_ES - Employment Support Specialist

About the role

Achev is a leading provider of employment, newcomer, language, and youth services in the Greater Toronto Area. The Employment Support Specialist plays a crucial role in helping individuals achieve their employment goals through comprehensive support and job search facilitation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate structured and individualized support for conducting successful job searches in group and individual settings.
• Provide career exploration, interest identification, and skill assessment in relation to short- and long-term career and employment goals.
• Offer orientation to the workplace, including rules and expectations, rights and responsibilities, and Canadian workplace culture.
• Counsel and coach clients in life skills to support their employment participation.
• Support clients in disclosing disabilities that may affect employment participation.
• Prepare job search tools and strategies, including resumes and applications, interview techniques, and coaching.
• Provide information about and access to professional accreditation, language credentials, and prior learning assessments.
• Mentor and coach clients during the job search process.
• Assist clients in referring to and accessing other services, including education and training.
• Offer support to clients requiring enhanced services, such as job search, mentoring, and job retention.
• Develop and offer Itinerant Employment Services within the local catchment area to new and existing partnerships.
• Maintain up-to-date information on local labor market, community resources, and referral protocols.
• Utilize the EOIS system, Service System Manager’s databases, and internal OneClient system for tracking clients, conducting follow-ups, and recording activities.
• Document client engagement, progress, and results in case notes and documentation.
• Provide assistance to both Resource and Information areas of the IES delivery model as required.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in a related field.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in an Employment Services role.
• Extensive knowledge of Employment Services and experience in delivering outcome-based employment services.
• Experienced with MLTSD’s Case Management System (EOIS CaMS).
• Knowledge of Ministry Delivered Programs and related guidelines for administration.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in job search, job placement, incentives, or job retention, including employment/coaching.
• Experience facilitating job search-related sessions with knowledge of current job search techniques and assessment tools in a group setting.
• Advanced skills in computer technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Ability to learn new technology tools, such as the Achev's parallel data management system (CETRA).
• Demonstrated knowledge of Labor Market Information (LMI), job search techniques, and recruitment and community resources, programs, and services.
• Experience working with diverse groups, including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada, or other groups with specialized needs.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Goal-oriented, highly organized, flexible, and adaptable.
• Superior time management skills.
• Ability to deliver services in both official languages (English/French).
• Knowledge of other languages is considered an asset.
• Advanced skills in psychological instruments, such as Personality Dimensions, MBTI, COP System, or Life Skills Certification.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary of $55,827.46 per year.
