DJJ Staff Nurse - Cordele, GA 40 hrs/week

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. The Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services, established in 2017 through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, delivers high-quality health services to justice-involved youth in 25 facilities across Georgia.

About the role

This position is located at Crisp RYDC (Crisp County), 130 Haralson Road, Cordele, GA 31015. The Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services aims to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and potential for wellness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the general direction of the Lead Nurse.
• Guide patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel.
• Promote a customer-friendly environment and provide superior service to youth, facility staff, family, and outside vendors.
• Function within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.
• Respond quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes).
• Perform BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) as required.

Requirements

• Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia.
• 1 year of previous experience in a clinical setting.
• Good organizational and decision-making skills.
• Good physical and mental health; ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.
• Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification (American Heart or Red Cross Program).
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, reach, stoop, stand, and sit for long periods.
• Normal levels of hearing and seeing (with corrective appliances if necessary).
• Security clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
• Completion of Pre-Employment requirements, including a Criminal History Record Release, Physical Examination, and Drug Screen (when applicable).

Pay

Base rate of $36.50 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Shifts may vary depending on site availability.
