Responsibilities
- Direct the accounting work associated with the business separation, ensuring assets, transactions, and financial responsibilities are assigned accurately across entities.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate records, clarify ownership matters, and support well-documented separation decisions.
- Design and implement a framework for splitting accounting operations, including account structures, reporting flows, and allocation approaches.
- Establish financial processes that support independent operations for each entity while maintaining strong controls and clear accountability.
- Prepare separation-related accounting documentation to support audit readiness and future financial review requirements.
- Lead efforts to organize and transfer accounting activities to an external or shared-services support model, including process mapping and operational handoff planning.
- Support month-end close activities, balance sheet analysis, and financial reporting throughout the transition period.
- Provide practical guidance in a fast-moving onsite environment while partnering with executives, ownership, and operational management on key accounting decisions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in controllership, accounting management, or a similar financial leadership role.
- Background supporting carve-outs, divestitures, entity separations, or other complex business restructuring initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close, financial reporting, and balance sheet review processes.
- Experience working in multi-entity environments with responsibility for consolidations, allocations, or financial separation activities.
- Ability to succeed in an evolving setting that requires hands-on execution, sound judgment, and process creation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior executives, owners, and operational stakeholders.
- Construction, general contracting, or project-based accounting experience is preferred.
Qualifications
Availability to work onsite in Saint Louis, Missouri for the duration of the engagement.
