Responsibilities
- Own the division's financial close and reporting
- Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close on a US GAAP basis, delivering accurate and on-time reporting packages to the Corporate Controller
- Prepare financial statements with variance analysis vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods; explain drivers of revenue, margin, and operating performance to division and corporate leadership
- Support the parent company's consolidation process, including intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and conformance with corporate reporting templates and close calendar
- Lead government contract accounting and compliance
- Maintain a compliant job and program cost accounting system, including direct labor, material, and overhead accumulation by contract and program
- Administer indirect rate structures — fringe, overhead, and G&A — including provisional rate development and year-end true-ups
- Ensure accounting practices, timekeeping, and labor distribution support compliance with FAR, DFARS, DCAA, and ITAR/export control requirements
- Partner with Contracts and Program Management on contract setup, billing, and revenue recognition
- Own cost accounting and operational finance
- Lead standard costing, inventory valuation, cycle count and physical inventory governance, WIP, scrap, and PPV analysis in partnership with operations and supply chain
- Drive the annual operating budget, periodic forecasts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, capex, headcount), and working capital management; provide cash forecasts to the parent company
- Build controls and drive integration
- Design, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting at the division; align policies, chart of accounts, and procedures with parent company standards
- Serve as the division finance owner of the ERP and related systems, driving data integrity and supporting system and reporting integration with the parent
- Execute post-acquisition integration items including opening balance sheet support, purchase accounting follow-through, adoption of parent accounting policies, and rollout of standardized reporting packages and KPIs
- Lead the division accounting team and audit process
- Lead, coach, and develop the division's accounting team across GL, AP, AR, payroll, and cost accounting; establish clear roles, cross-training, and a culture of accuracy and accountability
- Cook up external audit, tax, and statutory reporting at the division level; serve as the on-site point of contact for auditors
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or equivalent leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with US government contract accounting — FAR/DFARS, indirect rate structures, DCAA audit interactions — and standard costing and inventory accounting in a defense or aerospace setting preferred
- Experience reporting into a parent company or corporate office, including consolidation, intercompany, and standardized reporting requirements; post-acquisition integration experience a plus
- Strong US GAAP foundation, advanced Excel skills, and proficiency with ERP systems
- Independent and direct; thrives with ownership and minimal oversight
