Division Procurement Director

About the role

The Division Procurement Director leads procurement strategy across the West Division, driving value creation, cost optimization, supplier performance, and operational excellence. Responsible for managing approximately $1 billion in annual spend, this role partners with Division, business leaders, and Americas Materials leaders to develop sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier relationships, and deliver measurable business results through a high-performing procurement organization. This individual will lead a team of 5-10 managers and analysts across nine states.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute a Division Procurement strategy aligned with company objectives and CRH procurement standards.
• Provide leadership for all external addressable spend within the Division.
• Partner with business leaders to implement standardized procurement practices, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Division.
• Act as a strategic advisor to the team on sourcing, risk, and cost management.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive measurable cost savings and increased value.
• Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management within sourcing activities.
• Partner closely with CRH Procurement Leadership to execute strategies.
• Direct efforts to negotiate, contract, and manage performance with key suppliers to ensure service levels are achieved and continuous improvement efforts are implemented.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of sourcing category managers and specialists.
• Build a high-performing culture focused on accountability, results, and professional growth.
• Set clear expectations and provide regular performance feedback.
• Partner with Finance to ensure procurement savings are accurately forecasted, tracked, and realized in financial results.
• Own reporting of procurement performance, savings, and value creation at the Division level.
• Lead supplier risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including supply continuity, capacity, financial health, and macro-level risk (e.g., tariffs).
• Support business continuity planning through resilient sourcing strategies.
• Lead procurement workstreams associated with SAP implementation.
• Lead Procure to Pay Process improvements and implement standard operating procedures across the Division.
• Support North America Procurement management team with strategy alliance and direction.
• Align with business leadership to support CAPEX projects and development Procurement.

Requirements

• Proven record of procurement and cost management across goods and services, managing suppliers and relationships, and understanding the entire procurement cycle.
• Strong business, commercial, and financial acumen with a pragmatic approach.
• Demonstrable record of successfully defining and implementing leading-edge procurement strategies, including category management development across multiple business entities/locations.
• Experience with Procurement and Payables shared service centers; standing up a procurement shared service center experience preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of technology as an enabler for enhancing procurement processes, particularly e-Sourcing and source-to-contract.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain multi-site relationships at all levels and implement change.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated experience leading key negotiations, drafting and implementing contracts, and ongoing supplier management to deliver sustained benefits.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Provide valid documentation for I-9 verification.
• Must have a valid driver's license and safely drive a vehicle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/University Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of strategic sourcing/category management experience.
• Exposure to the building materials (aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, etc.), mining, or construction sectors preferred.
• Preferred field of study: Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related degree.
• 30%-40% travel required, including frequent visits to businesses across the West and regular out-of-state meetings.
• Technologically savvy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office software.
