Procurement Director

About the role

Oversee division-level procurement operations at one of the nation’s largest and most respected homebuilders. As a key leader within a Fortune 500 company, you will execute procurement strategies in close collaboration with construction peers to ensure alignment with project goals, budgets, and timelines. Your work will directly impact the successful launch of new communities and drive sustainable vendor partnerships that improve margins and reduce complexity.

Responsibilities

• Execute division-level procurement strategies with high levels of collaboration and buy-in from construction peers.
• Create and manage a comprehensive house cost budget and plan; ensure budget accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead startup strategy meetings to contribute to the successful launch of new communities.
• Provide oversight and input on procurement-related items to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned.
• Forecast short-term and long-term risk and cost opportunities using the project tracker tool; implement strategies to meet commitments.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce complexity and improve margins through streamlined procurement processes.
• Drive vendor performance through regular VIP meetings, site walks, and the development of sustainable vendor partnerships.
• Deliver confident, audience-adjusted written and verbal presentations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners at ownership and management levels to execute sourcing strategies.
• Attract, recruit, hire, and develop a highly capable procurement team; foster a strong team culture and positive work environment.
• Manage and develop other Procurement team members to drive optimal performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• University degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8–10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Valid Driver’s License (driving is an essential function of this position).
• ISCM (Certified Procurement) or equivalent accreditation preferred.

• Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans to ensure availability of human capital.
• Typically has budget accountability for the department or sub-function.
