Division Procurement Director

CRH’s Americas Materials, a division of CRH, is the leading vertically integrated supplier of aggregates, cement, asphalt, ready mixed concrete and paving and construction services in North America. Our operations span North America with 24,100 employees at close to 1,300 locations in 44 US States and 6 Canadian provinces.

The Division Procurement Director leads procurement strategy across the West Division, driving value creation, cost optimization, supplier performance, and operational excellence. Responsible for managing approximately $1 billion in annual spend, this role partners with Division, business leaders, and Americas Materials leaders to develop sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier relationships, and deliver measurable business results through a high-performing procurement organization. This individual will lead a team of 5–10 managers and analysts across nine states.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute a Division Procurement strategy aligned with company objectives and CRH procurement standards
• Provide leadership for all external addressable spend within the Division
• Partner with business leaders to implement standardized procurement practices, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Division
• Act as a strategic advisor to the team on sourcing, risk, and cost management
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that drive measurable cost savings and increased value
• Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management within sourcing activities
• Partner closely with CRH Procurement Leadership to execute strategies
• Direct efforts to negotiate, contract and manage performance with key suppliers to ensure that all service levels are achieved and that continuous improvement efforts are implemented
• Lead, coach and develop a team of sourcing category managers and specialists
• Build a high-performing culture focused on accountability, results, and professional growth; set clear expectations and provide regular performance feedback
• Partner with Finance to ensure procurement savings are accurately forecasted, tracked, and realized in financial results
• Own reporting of procurement performance, savings, and value creation at the Division level
• Lead supplier risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including supply continuity, capacity, financial health, and macro-level risk (e.g., tariffs)
• Support business continuity planning through resilient sourcing strategies
• Lead procurement workstreams associated with SAP implementation
• Lead Procure to Pay process improvements and implement standard operating procedures across the Division
• Support North America Procurement management team with strategy alignment and direction
• Align with business leadership to support CAPEX projects and development

Additional Knowledge / Experience

• Proven record of procurement and cost management across goods and services, managing suppliers and relationships and understanding the entire procurement cycle
• Strong business, commercial and financial acumen—supported by a pragmatic approach and willingness to engage detail when required
• Demonstrable record of successfully defining and implementing leading-edge procurement strategies, including category management development across multiple business entities/locations
• Experience with Procurement and Payables shared service centers; standing up a procurement shared service center experience preferred
• Detailed knowledge of the use of technology as an enabler for enhancing procurement processes, particularly e-Sourcing and source-to-contract
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization and to implement change
• Strong and effective team player—both within the Procurement function and across functions; motivates and empowers others with exemplary coaching and mentoring skills
• High ethical standards and ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training and group facilitation
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with sufficient gravitas and credibility to influence key stakeholders at all levels (internal and external) and drive the strategic procurement agenda
• Demonstrated experience leading key negotiations, drafting and implementation of contracts, and ongoing supplier management to deliver sustained benefits

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience: 10+ years of strategic sourcing/category management experience
• Exposure to the building materials (aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, etc.), mining or construction sectors preferred
• Additional education preferred in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field
• Travel: Expect 30%–40% travel; frequent visits to businesses across the West and regular out-of-state meetings
• Computer skills: Technologically savvy with fluency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet searches, and databases
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check; provide valid documentation for I-9 verification; possess a valid driver’s license
