About the Role

The Simulation Specialist is an essential role in facilitating medical simulation, responsible for integrating, maintaining, and operating computer and audio-video (AV) technology, including manikins and surrounding simulation lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure simulation and education-based technologies are maintained to minimize downtime.
• Assess equipment failures and remedy such failures in a timely fashion.
• Contribute to the development of curriculum and educational materials for different levels and types of training related to simulation.
• Interface with equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot problems and implement hardware and software updates.
• Foster a Service Excellence culture and evaluate simulation technology for improvement opportunities.
• Operate or assist with the operation of simulators and task trainers for training sessions.
• Provide consultation and orientation to instructors on simulation laboratory procedures and equipment use.
• Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently within designated parameters.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of medical simulators.
• Maintain all equipment and ensure timely ordering and availability of supplies.
• Identify performance opportunities or training needs related to simulation and provide coaching and development.
• Assist clinical educators with orientation to principles of simulation training technology.
• Contribute to strategic planning and business development within the area of responsibility.
• Represent the organization positively within the community and participate in company-supported events.
• Develop and maintain positive external relationships related to medical simulation.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advancements in medical simulation.
• Conduct tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups.
• Operate within the annual budget and manage department performance accordingly.
• Participate in the annual budget process and provide input on department simulation equipment needs.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or healthcare technology (Preferred).
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification (Preferred).
• Familiarity with operation of personal computers (Preferred).
• Familiarity with medical terminology and audio-visual equipment (Preferred).

Qualifications

• Certification in Healthcare Operations Simulation (Preferred).
