About the role
The Diversion Program Manager oversees the Gun Diversion Program within Travis County, focusing on reducing rearrests and future violent-related incidents through trauma-focused care. The position involves strategic leadership, team management, compliance, evaluation, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and budget/resource management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the diversion program.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the coordination of services from intake to discharge planning.
- Oversee program budgeting and ensure resources are appropriately allocated.
- Supervise and lead a team of clinicians.
- Ensure program compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assess the efficiency of required documentation and use data to inform program decisions.
- Serve as the liaison between operations and external stakeholders.
- Resolve complex issues related to diversion operations.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of diversion strategies and state regulations.
- Proven experience in managing budgets and staff development.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Leadership and supervisory experience in community mental health services.
- Extensive experience in Travis County’s mental health system.
- In-depth knowledge of Texas Medicaid billing practices and compliance requirements.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in community mental health services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) preferred.
- Experience in policy development and advocacy for mental health services.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and practices.
Skills

- Make effective decisions and resolve conflicts.
- Deep knowledge of crisis intervention, diversion strategies, and local mental health resources.
- Expertise in Texas Medicaid regulations, billing procedures, and maintaining compliance.

- Ability to build strong partnerships with community stakeholders and advocate for mental health programs.
- Capacity for long-term planning, innovative service delivery, and systems-level thinking.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex community systems.
