District Manager South Carolina
About the role
The District Manager is responsible for leading the internal and external customer experience to drive sales results and all KPIs. They ensure all company processes and practices are adhered to and act as the linchpin of the field organization between strategy and execution. This role maintains a strong level of business literacy about the region and SBH financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.
Responsibilities
- Brand (30%):
- Provides leadership to deliver an exceptional customer experience, maximizing sales/KPIs and driving customer loyalty in assigned stores.
- Emphasizes both in-store selling and a channel-agnostic approach to exceed expectations.
- Understands the competitive landscape by observing and studying competitors to share insights with business partners.
- Ensures all brand standards are met, including merchandising, POGs, marketing, and back-room operations.
- People (30%):
- Develops and maintains recruitment, training, motivation, and discipline programs to drive results.
- Builds and maintains a talent pool of future leaders through active networking on LinkedIn and other digital platforms.
- Assesses Store Managers to determine talent opportunities and their impact on store performance.
- Engages direct reports regarding strengths and opportunities, leveraging Individual Development Plans (IDP).
- Ensures Store Managers engage and develop their teams.
- Builds strong working relationships with all business partners.
- Safety/Loss Prevention (20%):
- Ensures a safe store environment for associates and customers, adhering to all policies and social distancing practices.
- Protects company assets by ensuring procedures related to shrink, damages, and banking are followed.
- Analyzes and utilizes all available reporting to mitigate risks.
- Ensures stores are compliant with all HAZMAT training and execution.
- Operations (20%):
- Drives the execution of all company processes through training, management, analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Actively manages payroll and other controllable expenses such as supplies and travel.
- Ensures all processes to support digital strategies are utilized, including Omni-channel fulfillment (SFS/SDD/BOPIS).
- Oversees real estate matters, including site feedback, relocations, new stores, and store closings.
- Utilizes technology and company tools to drive results.
- Works in partnership with the Operations Business Partner (Sally only).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; College Degree preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in business, management, and/or merchandising.
- Specialty retail or trade knowledge, with a focus on problem-solving and driving associate engagement.
- Multi-unit or big-box retail management experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of candidate selection, sourcing, and education.
- Expertise in inventory management strategies, merchandising techniques, and sales promotion activities.
- Ability to plan, organize, lead, and control operations.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and quantify market trends.
- Understanding of the competitive landscape to drive local segmentation.
- Understanding of assigned store capabilities and growth potentials.
- Extensive travel required, including overnights and weekends for national sales meetings, beauty shows, and sales operations meetings.

Working Conditions
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts typical of offices, meeting rooms, retail stores, and commercial vehicles. Normal safety precautions are required, such as safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. The position requires physical exertion, including long periods of standing, and extensive travel.
