About the role

This is a field-based position; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The role covers Virginia, West Virginia, and Fayetteville, NC. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

You will coordinate commercial activity within in-field teams to ensure sales targets are met in an assigned geography, create and implement the District Sales Plan, and monitor progress.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate in-field activity to achieve results and agreed-upon targets.
  • Maximize market, segment, and team dynamics to drive both top- and bottom-line results.
  • Ensure smooth, collaborative efforts in both day-to-day and long-term business execution.
  • Set the tone and pace for business processes and organization.
  • Understand and present a market and franchise/business point of view when leading teams by mastering product and disease-state information, as well as pertinent market dynamics, including the Managed Care landscape.
  • Coach, mentor, educate, and develop direct and indirect team members to enhance individual skills and elevate overall team performance.
  • Hold direct reports accountable to behaviors and expectations.
  • Provide direction and insights to key internal partners in the business planning process.
  • Consistently exemplify the AbbVie Ways of Working.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred; relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Business analysis and planning skills that drive sales performance.
  • Proven District Manager leadership, including compliance with safety and compliance standards.
  • Minimum four years of pharmaceutical sales management experience (external management experience may be considered).
  • Currently meeting performance expectations and living the AbbVie Way while demonstrating Leadership Attributes.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to articulate the scientific aspects of treatments and therapeutic areas.
  • Proven ability to deliver candid, effective feedback and efficiently manage performance.
  • Ability to develop talent for promotional opportunities.
  • Ability to create a culture of winning and full team engagement.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in your assigned territory, including but not limited to background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination, fingerprinting, and state or city-specific licenses.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test while meeting safe driving requirements.
