District Employees ONLY Custodian (Night Shift) - Bobby Duke Middle School
About the Role
Under general supervision, perform custodial work to keep an assigned school building or group of buildings or office space clean and orderly, and identify maintenance needs. This is an entry-level position for custodial work at Bobby Duke Middle School, available only to current employees of the Coachella Valley Unified School District.
Responsibilities
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Vacuums rugs, carpets, and other areas as required.
- Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, and other surfaces.
- Empties, replaces liners, and cleans waste receptacles.
- Cleans restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures.
- Washes windows, sills, walls, doors, door handles, tables, benches, and other furniture as needed.
- Cleans sinks, drinking fountains, and other equipment as directed.
- Preserves equipment and materials through proper storage.
- Performs deep cleaning during school vacations, including carpet and floor cleaning.
- Collects and disposes of trash and debris on school grounds, including after extracurricular activities and special events.
- Refills paper towel, soap, and toilet paper dispensers as needed.
- Supports school operations by unloading pallets and setting up/taking down tables, chairs, benches, or desks.
Other Duties
- Reports any damage or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of work or volunteer experience in any field, preferably in an environment involving children.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- TB Test Clearance
- Valid California Driver License
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Assessment: Successfully pass the District Assessment.
Pay
$3,855 - $5,979 monthly (Step 30 A-J, Classified Salary Schedule)

12 months/8 hours per day, Night Shift
