About the role

Bayliner, Trophy & Heyday, a leading manufacturer of recreational fiberglass boats, has an opening for a District Business Manager. This individual will be responsible for determining the right strategic dealer locations for each brand, executing boat sales to achieve budgeted goals, and building profitable market share in a designated territory through active territory management and dealer marketing support.

Responsibilities

  • Direct sales responsibility for brands within assigned sales territory
  • Meet or exceed sales objectives while maintaining acceptable gross margins
  • Establish and manage yearly dealer sales targets and provide the company with accurate sales and inventory forecasts
  • Plan and execute territory sales plans and strategies as part of overall company strategy
  • Ensure deadlines are met for sales and service agreement, annual planning targets and order dates
  • Manage the strategic direction of the brands' dealer network within territory to optimize sales coverage which includes identification of white space distribution opportunities and underperforming dealerships and development of strategies to correct underperforming dealers
  • Establish and maximize strong dealer and customer relationships
  • Aid brands in product development, pricing and retail and wholesale incentive programs
  • Carry-out brand-specific training programs for dealers when required
  • Create dealer-specific marketing plans for each territory in the region
  • Work with our internal customer service team to monitor and improve the dealers CSI and NPS scores
  • Support communication across Brunswick business units, particularly Mercury Marine and other Brunswick boat companies
  • Provide company with accurate and timely competitive information

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in sales or sales management, preferably in the marine or power sports industry
  • Demonstrated experience in managing distribution channels and dealer networks
  • Experience with territory management and customer call planning
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint – e-marketing skills a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of basic financial statements (Income, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Proficiency with problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional level
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% -80%
  • Valid passport required or willingness to obtain one upon hire

Benefits

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $84,500 to $123,900 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive program.

Schedule

This role will support the Northeast territory, beginning in Northern Virginia and extending through West Virginia, Ohio, and Eastern Canada. The position requires approximately 70%–80% travel, with travel demands ebbing and flowing throughout the year based on business needs, dealer visits, and boat show schedules, resulting in some quarters requiring heavier travel than others.
