About the role

TRC is hiring a Distribution Field Technician in the Ceredo, WV area. This position requires 90% travel and involves gathering field information for detailed designs of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. The role includes preparing field notes, uploading gathered information, and updating field tracking. You will interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare construction orders for overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems, applying prescribed standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
  • Apply client’s standards, guidelines, and industry practices to prepare layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.
  • Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials, and other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Assist in load studies on distribution transformers, investigate circuit overloads, and address voltage complaints to determine corrective actions.
  • Contact landowners and/or their agents to negotiate Rights of Way (easements) for proposed utility equipment, and obtain necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
  • Assist in acquiring field data and gathering information from field notes.
  • Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying, and scanning of drawings, prints, and maps.
  • Utilize client and company information systems to track and update design activities.
  • Follow the Code of Safe Practices as outlined in company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No professional experience required but preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors.
  • Ability to travel to various project sites within the utility client(s) territory during business hours.
  • Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications desired.
  • Ability to work alone and with a team.
  • No certifications required.

Pay

Salary range: USD $19.00 - USD $24.87 per hour. Eligibility for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program, contingent on performance.
