Distribution Supervisor - 3RD Shift

About the role

As a Distribution Supervisor, you’ll play a critical role at the heart of our operations in a unionized distribution center. You’ll plan and coordinate daily activities, drive performance, ensure safety, and support a positive, team-first culture. This position is based at the American Seaway Foods facility (a Giant Eagle warehouse) in Bedford, OH, which includes both grocery (ambient temperature) and perishable (36°F year-round) areas. The facility selects and distributes products to 157 company store locations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the work activities of Distribution Center Team Members using labor management and inventory systems.
• Schedule Team Members and allocate job assignments to meet production demands efficiently.
• Provide clear direction to Team Members to meet customer requirements, production demands, and Company goals.
• Maintain a consistent presence on the warehouse floor to observe, monitor, and coach job performance.
• Utilize reporting systems to provide Shift Managers and other Department Managers with accurate production activity accounts.
• Communicate with stores, external vendors, and other Distribution Center Departments to meet internal and external customer requirements.
• Encourage open communication with Shift Managers, Supervisors, and subordinates to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Foster positive working relationships with Team Members and Union representatives to promote satisfaction and retention.
• Utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; escalate situations to Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or Human Resources when appropriate.
• Demonstrate and promote ethical, professional behavior.
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including availability for all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
• Administer and maintain compliance within the Labor Agreement.
• Communicate and enforce federal, Corporate, and Company policies and procedures.
• Promote safety and productivity guidelines; reinforce good work habits, identify training needs, or initiate corrective action.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in a distribution or warehouse environment.
• 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience (desired).
• Bachelor’s degree (desired).

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $56,500–$65,900 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and location.
