Responsibilities
- Perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
- Prepare field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates.
- Interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.
- Acquire knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and industry standards.
- Maintain project quality and document production.
- Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and communication facilities.
- Operate necessary equipment for pole inspections and maintenance.
- Perform field technical services such as system inventories, audits, and inspections.
- Present ideas effectively in formal and informal settings.
- Communicate clearly in writing and via phone, adhering to professional ethics.
- Keep supervisor and coworkers informed of progress and information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering or related field (preferred).
- Entry-level experience with an Associate’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- One to two years of electric utility or telecommunications field experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) (preferred).
- Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications (desired).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar engineering software (preferred).
- No certifications required.
- Valid driver's license (required).
- Age 21 or older (required).
- Occasional travel to utility client territories (occasional).
