Distribution Designer I

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
• Prepare field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates.
• Interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.
• Acquire knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and industry standards.
• Maintain project quality and document production.
• Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and communication facilities.
• Operate necessary equipment for pole inspections and maintenance.
• Perform field technical services such as system inventories, audits, and inspections.
• Present ideas effectively in formal and informal settings.
• Communicate clearly in writing and via phone, adhering to professional ethics.
• Keep supervisor and coworkers informed of progress and information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering or related field (preferred).
• Entry-level experience with an Associate’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• One to two years of electric utility or telecommunications field experience (preferred).
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) (preferred).
• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications (desired).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar engineering software (preferred).
• No certifications required.
• Valid driver's license (required).
• Age 21 or older (required).
• Occasional travel to utility client territories (occasional).
