Job Summary/Purpose
Design Supervisor (Utility) supervises/co-supervises the daily activities of the Designers in the design area.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Approves timesheets, monitors vacation or other time off, application of union agreements/contracts (where applicable), Design Department production, Design Department overtime, etc.
- Works with the Planner/Scheduler to balance workload among Designers and to provide technical assistance to customer questions or requests.
- Approves design jobs up to $150k, which includes checking revenue calculations, CIAC and taxes, drawing details, Points and Spans in DIS/GDT/Maximo. Interprets line extension policy and tariff rules as they apply to jobs. Interprets NEC and NESC codes, which apply to design jobs.
- Provides post-construction audits to ensure designer accuracy, and to correct any frequent designer mistakes.
- Assists with difficult design issues, and customer issues or complaints.
- Provides basic surveying, field operation, DIS/GDT/Maximo, Safety procedures and Construction Standards training for the Designers.
- Performs office audits, driver observations, and other safety-related tasks.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum education required of the position: 2-4 year Technical Degree (or equivalent Electrical Distribution work experience).
- Minimum experience required of the position: Electrical Distribution/Transmission/Substation Experience: 10 years cumulative OR 5 years Distribution Technical Experience.
- Distribution Design Experience: 2 years with DIS, GDT or Maximo.
- Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position: None.
