Distribution Design Engineer
About the role
The successful candidate will be a Distribution Engineer for Leidos' Eastern Pennsylvania workload. This is a fully remote position initially, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule in the King of Prussia area when an office is available.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards.
- Perform engineering calculations related to structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and protective device coordination.
- Prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, develop Bill of Materials (BOM), estimate costs, and engage in customer advocacy such as acquiring easements or calculating Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC).
- Develop civil and electrical packages for complex cable/conduit installations in dense urban environments.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams, ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Level 1: Associate Degree with 0-1 years of experience or Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Level 2: Bachelor's Degree + 2 years of relevant experience OR Associate Degree + 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree + 2 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma + 8 years of relevant experience.
- Skills:
- Experience with ESRI, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman).
- Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.
- Experience with projects in distribution design: using medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion projects, distribution automation projects.
- Experience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments.

- Pay Range: $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
