Distribution Clerk

About the Role

Avantor is seeking a Distribution Clerk for the Missouri City location. The Distribution Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time. Communicates with customers (carriers) as required and, with the Transportation Department, develops inbound and outbound freight schedules.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (required)
• 1–2 years’ experience preferred
• Experience with shipping and receiving operations (necessary)
• Experience with computers
• Good judgment and decision‑making ability
• Oral and written communication skills
• Simple math skills
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Familiarity with warehouse programs and software (SAP, iAuditor)

Responsibilities

• Schedule inbound and outbound freight to comply with warehouse operations and capacities.
• Coordinate carrier/inbound/outbound trucks to dock doors and ensure schedule adherence.
• Release waves and process wave exceptions.
• Identify replenishment and consolidation opportunities.
• Report volumes and maintain trackers.
• Create and verify ASN’s for receivers.
• Process I‑Audit entries.
• Ensure proper labels and tickets are applied before shipping.
• Perform visual quality inspection of all products (wrap/strap/box/pallet condition) before shipping.
• Maintain good security habits at dock doors.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks when necessary; operate PIT equipment as needed.
• Comply with OSHA and other applicable standards.
• Ensure accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents.
• Gather and maintain data and records related to shipping and receiving activities; enter data into systems and collection documents.
• Monitor and perform tasks for QN QM10 and EWM inbound system maintenance.
• Verify that receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders, and that shipping counts match picking documents.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
• Collect all documentation for inbound freight and perform proper record‑keeping.
• Direct and oversee the pallet control and exchange program.
• Participate in cycle counts and help maintain inventory accuracy as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The role is primarily performed in an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels. The associate will also be exposed to an industrial warehouse environment, including moving mechanical machinery and vehicles, with potentially loud noise. Physical effort is minimal but includes walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying objects typically weighing less than 10 lb.
