Distribution and Transportation Agent
About the role
As an agent with Expeditors, you will take ownership of a customer portfolio, being responsible for bookings, accurate pick-up, and scheduling of transportation between customer, service provider, and receiver. You will provide timely and accurate documentation, process transactions through Expeditors systems within operational process standards, and communicate delays while working autonomously to solve challenges and meet delivery needs.
This is an entry-level position with a strong training program available to develop your skillset with a leading global logistics provider. There is a heavy focus on ground/road freight and warehousing/distribution, including basic warehouse activities and inventory management. The role offers opportunities for advancement based on success.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system
- Track and trace truck transportation shipments and reporting
- Coordinate domestic and/or international shipments
- Ensure accurate and timely client billing
- Learn US Export and Dangerous Goods compliance regulations
- Contribute to and maintain good relationships with suppliers
- Meet both company and US compliance standards at all times
- Meet KPI standards in accordance with company policy
- Perform basic warehouse activities, including inventory management
Physical Demands
- Use of standard office equipment: computer with keyboard and mouse, phone, fax/copy/scan machine, etc.
- Use of standard warehouse equipment: pallet jack, scanners, forklift
- Writing with pencil/pen/marker
- Functions performed both at a desk and within the warehouse
- Attend meetings in alternate locations, such as conference rooms, for collaboration and training purposes
Qualifications
- Previous experience within the logistics field or equivalent training of 2 years
- Proven organizational skills
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- Good computer skills (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word)
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English
Pay
Expected base salary: $22/hr to $24/hr. May be eligible for a bonus following the first year of continuous employment in the position.
