Distinguished Engineer (Card Tech)

About the role

This role is for a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One. You will be part of a community of technical experts working to define the future of banking in the cloud.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture
• At least 7 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns
• At least 5 years of experience developing large scale distributed systems
• At least 3+ years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python or Go
• 8+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in defining and driving technical strategy and roadmap for systems and platforms that power Credit Card Core systems.
• Experience in architecting and building highly secure & scalable systems that enable server-driven product experiences across devices, with exceptional reliability and availability.
• Experience in designing high-throughput, low-latency services capable of handling millions of concurrent requests.
• Experience in architecting enhanced Observability and Monitoring frameworks to enable rapid issue detection, debugging and resolution, across the entire product system stack.
• Experience in providing organizational technical leadership to influence architecture, engineering standards, cross-team strategies, mentoring engineers and driving organization wide platform innovation.
• Experience in driving platform strategy, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and influencing technical direction across the company.

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• Chicago, IL: $244,700 - $279,200 for Distinguished Engineer
