About the Role
The Dispensary Technician is responsible for providing patients with an extraordinary experience through meaningful interaction, knowledgeable answers, and a compassionate, genuine, and respectful environment. This role contributes to fostering a climate that encourages forward thinking, inclusion, and generosity of spirit.
Responsibilities
- Provide knowledge, expertise, and guidance to patients about the benefits of premium cannabis products.
- Resolve patient questions or concerns quickly and escalate unresolved issues to management.
- Oversee patient intake, ensuring proper records and confidentiality.
- Accurately receive, coordinate, and fulfill patient orders using POS and inventory tracking systems in compliance with company, local, and state policies.
- Adapt to varied sales volumes, engage in continuous learning, and maintain a well-stocked, clean, and tidy dispensary with a "Patient first" approach.
- Follow compliance practices to prevent diversion of medical cannabis to unauthorized individuals.
- Assist in processing and monitoring floor stock and participate in daily inventory counts.
- Foster a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while maintaining curiosity about cannabis.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Act as the critical link between Ayr Wellness and patients by delivering an amazing, stress-free experience.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all areas, including restrooms, to ensure a guest-ready environment.
Requirements
- Basic math, computer, and cash handling skills.
- Ability to coordinate and problem-solve professionally.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass all background checks.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Effective communication with patients, caregivers, and team members.
- Experience with cash handling, POS, and inventory control systems.
- Prior experience in a high-volume retail or customer service environment; cannabis experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience in retail or customer service.

Working Conditions
- Accommodate scheduling that may include varied shifts, weekends, and some holidays.
- Assist patients with disabilities in navigating the dispensary, including consultation areas, registers, entrances, and exits.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent communication with patients and caregivers regarding medical conditions and product offerings.
- Frequent operation of computers, POS systems, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to remain stationary during patient check-ins or register operations.
- Ability to observe and assess patient entry via cameras and inspect IDs.
- Frequent communication with staff via walkie-talkie or headset.
- Constant movement and positioning during sales transactions, including maintaining POS systems and collecting products.
- Frequent movement and transport of dispensary products/totes up to 30 lbs.
