DISPATCHER-RAIL TRANSPORTATION

This posting is to fill the current vacancy and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies that may occur in the next 6 months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years experience in transportation operations
• Familiarity with route/driver assignments is desirable
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications
• Must successfully complete dispatch training
• Must pass physical examination, including drug and alcohol screen
• Must successfully pass background investigation by Georgia Crime Information Center

Responsibilities

• Ensures that an adequate number of operators are available to fill all scheduled service
• Makes daily work assignments to operators in accordance with the labor agreement
• Maintains operator daily work record, payroll sheet, and other related documents
• Monitors the appearance and physical composure of the operators reporting for duty
• Assists the Chief Dispatcher in the day-to-day operations of the Dispatcher's office
• Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of the union contract and operating rules and regulations
• Conducts mark-ups for Rail Operations
• Checks Operators for fitness for duty
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Makes work assignments to operators
