Dispatcher/Fleet Manager

Roles and Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently manage CDL Class A and Box Truck Drivers to transport goods and materials
• Planning and optimizing routes for drivers, considering factors such as traffic, weather, road conditions, fuel costs, and hours of service regulations
• Maintaining records and documentation of the transportation operations, such as invoices, bills of lading, driver logs, and fuel receipts
• Communicating with drivers and customers, providing them with updates, instructions, and feedback
• Monitoring and tracking the status and location of drivers and shipments using GPS, electronic logging devices, or phone calls
• Resolving any problems or issues that arise during the transportation process, such as delays, breakdowns, accidents, or customer complaints
• Maintaining records and documentation of the transportation operations, such as invoices, bills of lading, driver logs, and fuel receipts
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
• Participate in safety meetings and training

Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum: High School diploma or GED Certification
• Minimum: 2 years of experience (3-5 years preferred) in the transportation industry, as a dispatcher, or a customer service representative
• Knowledge of the trucking industry, including the types of freight, equipment, and regulations (DOT, NAFTA, CSA, federal and local laws)
• Knowledge of Box trucks, 53’ tractor/trailer, OTR, LTL, Flat Beds and Refrigerator trucks
• Must be able to pass a drug and background screen
• Must be able and willing to work weekends and evenings (on-call at least one weekend per month)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Ability to read instructions, numbers, and write legibly
• Proficiency in using computer software and applications, such as Google (Gmail/Google Docs), TMS, GPS, and electronic logging devices
• Excellent communication and people skills, as they must interact with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, as they need to deal with various challenges and situations
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask, as they need to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Attention to detail and accuracy, as they must ensure that the information and documentation are correct and complete
