About the role
The PM Dispatcher supports evening routing operations by assisting with next-day planning, responding to customer inquiries, and ensuring accurate documentation for overnight and morning operations. This role operates under the direction of the PM Dispatch Supervisor and plays a key role in setting up successful AM load-out operations.
Responsibilities
- Routing Support
- Assist PM Dispatch Supervisor with route planning in the DQ system
- Input customer requests and special requirements into routes
- Verify truck assignments align with route requirements
- Check freight capacity using DQ tools and flag overweight/overcube situations
- Process PO pickup scheduling for same-day and future deliveries
- Make routine routing decisions using system guidance
- Escalate complex routing situations to PM Dispatch Supervisor
- Administrative Processing
- Check in control paperwork to verify warehouse order completion
- Check in relay shipments from other locations into DQ
- Process portal requests (delivery times, vehicle requests, pickup scheduling)
- Maintain accurate records in the DQ system
- Absorb assistance with truck sheet preparation (in support of supervisor)
- Contribute to completion of PM dispatch checklist
- Customer Service
- Answer phone and portal inquiries regarding next-day deliveries
- Process Turtle Express same-day delivery requests
- Provide delivery time windows and routing information to sales teams
- Handle routine customer questions professionally and accurately
- Escalate complex customer issues to PM Dispatch Supervisor
- End-of-Day Handoff
- Help prepare dispatch notes for AM shift
- Ensure all paperwork is processed and routes are finalized
- Communicate any unresolved issues to PM Dispatch Supervisor
- Verify next-day routing is complete and ready for AM load-out
Requirements
- 1+ years of dispatch, customer service, or logistics coordination experience
- Ability to learn and effectively use DQ routing software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication skills (phone, email, portal systems)
- Ability to work evening hours consistently
- Willingness to develop decision-making skills and think beyond system defaults
- Basic understanding of truck capacity, freight types, and logistics
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of trucking terminology and operations
