Dispatcher
About the role
The Dispatcher ensures on-time delivery of fixed route and paratransit services as described by management. Monitors overall service integrity and schedule adherence and takes prompt appropriate actions to address circumstances that interrupt on-time performance. Monitors and/or responds to a variety of phone calls in a courteous manner and informs management of problems and complaints and assists in resolving them. Drives revenue service vehicles when necessary or situation demands. Must be able to provide excellent customer service to PDRTA passengers and customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and passengers to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents affecting service.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years related experience or corresponding years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the level of education desired.
- SC Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Passenger Endorsement.
- Pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical and criminal background check.
- In-house CDL training and testing available.
Qualifications
Experience in call center or related field preferred.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time position with flexible hours to accommodate shift work.
Other Requirements
- CDL preferred or must be willing to obtain Class B with Passenger Endorsement.
- In-house CDL training and testing available.
- Must pass a DOT physical exam and criminal background check.
- Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre-employment drug screen.
- Must successfully complete post-interview assessment.
