Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for the scheduling and assignment of rigging crews to jobs based on customer requirements and per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Also responsible for ensuring rental and MEI owned equipment, and tools are assigned to crew per job requirements and scheduled for maintenance.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and schedule work crews and equipment for each job including travel, load time and non-job-related projects and tasks.
- Manage paperwork related to daily export packing crew responsibilities.
- Assign and dispatch work crews every morning to job sites and yard projects based on customer and MEI requirements ensuring employees are assigned to job/projects in accordance with their skill set.
- Dispatch/assign equipment (MEI and rentals) and tools to crew per job requirements including scheduling of equipment repairs.
- Completion of all paperwork related to equipment maintenance, issues and repairs including the ordering of permits.
- Prepare, organize and distribute all required paperwork to appropriate groups (crew, accounting, operations management) related to the job, change orders, assignment of crew and equipment, safety, JHA’s (job hazard analysis) and equipment repairs & inspections.
- Perform data entry into software applications (WrightPlan) for labor and equipment.
- Review, edit and adjust labor hours in electronic timekeeping system (ADP), preparing final review and approval by manager.
- Update dispatch job board daily by adding and cancelling pending and confirmed jobs.
- Capture and schedule drop off and pick up all equipment and rentals related to jobs, including equipment from other MRC locations.
- Provide direct supervision of driving and rigging crews to ensure performance, safety and MEI standards are being met.
- Communicate daily with job foreman and drivers for efficiency of scheduling and dispatch.
- Provide new hire orientation to include safety, job and timekeeping & attendance requirements and expectations.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years proven dispatching experience or comparable field preferably within the rigging or transportation industry.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills.
- Possess creative thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications.
- Ability to excel and adapt in a fast paced environment.
- Knowledge of intra and interstate trip permit regulations.
- Knowledge of customs requirements as it relates to export or import shipments.
- Valid and current driver’s license or ability to attain.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Standard office environment including work at a computer terminal.
- Extended periods of sitting and typing, with occasional walking, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching and kneeling.
- Repetitive movements.
- Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.
- May work in close proximity to other employees.
