About the role
CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking a skilled Dispatcher to join our team! We take pride in communicating and providing deliveries on time to our customers. Our Dispatchers coordinate and ensure the pick-up and delivery of freight on an accurate, timely and efficient basis. They also close driver trips to ensure accuracy through the company's technology systems while supporting the operations team with all administrative functions required.
Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules, coordinates, implements, and ensures methods and procedures for the most efficient and timely pickup and delivery of customer’s freight.
- Verifies accuracy of pick-up orders placed by Customer Service Representatives. Checks for discrepancies and timeliness of orders.
- Answers customer service calls. Communicates directly with customers as required.
- Dispatches pickup and delivery of customer freight in timely and efficient manner.
- Assigns and schedules drivers on pick-up and delivery locations and accurate completion of shipping documentation.
- Verifies loading and unloading appointments with shippers and receivers.
- Completes and verifies driver check-in and check-outs are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Creates routing stickers as needed.
- Maintains and facilitates communication with drivers to ensure optimum operational efficiency and customer and employee relations.
- Maintains a log of all route times to determine which routes may be running late.
- Communicates with other operations personnel to resolve operational issues.
- Handles very high telephone call volume in courteous and efficient manner.
- Sets up Truckmate trips and verifies close including monitoring and managing open orders, missing orders, overages, shortages and misroutes, missing POD’s, and late deliveries and resolves issues for timely and efficient delivery to customers.
- Obtains weekly service center report card and identifies and solves existing and potential problems involving supervisor as appropriate.
- Performs OSD research and tracks results.
- Interacts with customers and employees in a helpful, courteous and professional manner.
- Ensures that all pick-ups and deliveries are done in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures adherence to Company policies and procedures and ensures drivers adhere to Company policies.
- Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Creates a positive and productive work atmosphere by communicating in a professional and team-like manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED equivalent.
- Ability to type a minimum of 25 wpm and be familiar with computer operations.
- Ability to work well with others and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal, organization, math, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with a positive attitude.
- Ability to create, give and follow instructions, use common sense and take directions using personal and technology-related communication.
- Ability to obtain working knowledge of the city, rural routes, and CCC system as well as Company policies and procedures in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazardous materials preferred.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to get along with diverse personalities.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
Pay
$22.00 per hour, based on education and years of experience.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
