Dispatcher

Job Description

The Dispatcher reports directly to the Operations Manager. The role involves overseeing daily dispatch and routing operations to maximize productivity, operational efficiency, and effective utilization of drivers, assets, and equipment. This includes assigning loads and routes based on driver location, route efficiency, and operational priorities, ensuring the accuracy of tonnage reports, load sheets, asset assignments, work orders, and routing data, monitoring route completion through driver check-ins, and maintaining detailed records of scheduled, missed, and additional pick-ups, route completions, and driver activity. The Dispatcher also coordinates end-of-day assignments and operational follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion of all service and delivery objectives, prepares and maintains compliance reports, serves as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries and issue resolution, supports and mentors drivers and helpers, identifies driver performance concerns or operational issues, communicates findings to management for timely resolution, performs additional operational, administrative, and supervisory duties as assigned, provides leadership and operational support as a backfill supervisor, assists with training, team coordination, employee development, and departmental continuity, and serves as a developmental steppingstone into a future leadership role within the Operations Department.

Required Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• 2 – 5 years’ experience in a dispatching role, with logistics or transportation industry experience.
• Bilingual (English / Spanish).
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Excellent customer conflict resolution abilities.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Role or Industry Experience.
