Dispatch Operations Specialist

About the role

Scotts Miracle-Gro offers dynamic and varied growth opportunities. This role involves coordinating freight, negotiating rates, maintaining records, processing orders, and cross-training for general office duties.

Responsibilities

• Cook up and process freight to maximize efficiency and timely deliveries
• Negotiate freight rates with contract carriers
• Maintain and process necessary records and paperwork to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
• Confirm and/or process orders and bills of lading
• Advise customers on delivery scheduling and order problems; develop production schedules in collaboration with the Production Supervisor; coordinate shipments with production personnel and other Growing Media Plants; respond to customer inquiries, driver concerns, and corporate personnel
• Perform special projects and other office duties as requested

Requirements

• A High School Diploma
• Two years of experience in a traffic or freight-related field
• Previous experience dispatching trucks
• Microsoft Office and computer skills
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and have a strong customer service orientation
• Prior negotiation experience
• Knowledge of state, local, and federal DOT regulations
• Knowledge of office procedures

Pay & Schedule

The pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $20.70 - 28.10 per hour and is paid weekly. Factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location will determine the actual pay.
