Dispatch Coordinator - Overnight

About the role

This on-site Dispatch Coordinator position in Ankeny, IA coordinates the timely, safe, and efficient movement of customer product in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Assign workload to available drivers and monitor product movements.
• Resolve delivery and scheduling issues to maintain customer expectations.
• Use Ruan transportation management systems to capture operational data in near real-time.
• Direct and schedule drivers’ work to ensure on-time movement of goods and maximize operational efficiency.
• Notify drivers of work assignments and regularly monitor driver activities and performance.
• Identify and resolve daily service and scheduling issues; escalate to management as needed.
• Maintain timely, professional communication with customer contacts regarding service impacts.
• Monitor drivers’ hours of service to prevent DOT violations.
• Communicate regularly with customers about issues affecting service expectations.
• Accurately prepare and process data, including driver activities, activity reports, trip documents, driver hours of service, fuel tickets, and other required items.
• Update driver and dispatch information in the dispatch system in real time.
• Monitor and promote safety in all dispatch operations.
