About the Role
The job of Dispatch & Route Specialist is done for the purpose of providing safe and efficient student transportation throughout the district; overseeing day-to-day operation of school bus drivers; assigning and scheduling routes and buses; maintaining and updating bus routes; processing information pertaining to routine and emergency road and maintenance issues; and maintaining department records in accordance with mandated requirements.
Responsibilities
- Drives school bus/s for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
- Overseeing day-to-day operation of school bus drivers.
- Assigning and scheduling routes and buses.
- Maintaining and updating bus routes.
- Processing information pertaining to routine and emergency road and maintenance issues.
- Maintaining department records in accordance with mandated requirements.
Requirements
- Knowledge of district boundaries and local geography.
- Knowledge of emergency protocols.
- Knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of pertinent department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of concepts of grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to operate two-way radio and county emergency radio.
- Ability to route plan and optimize.

- Ability to operate standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications.
